FAQ

A range of frequently asked questions! If you are unsure about anything then you have come to the right place!

What exactly is Royalty Free Music?

Royalty Free Music is also usually referred to as 'Stock' music or 'Production' music. The music from Royalty Free Horror Music can be used in a variety of projects, buy once and use forever without paying royalties.

Can I download the file in another format?

All files are provided as the industry standard 44.1 kHz 16 bit wav. This is an uncompressed format, and is extremely good quality. If you require your purchase in a different format (MP3 for example) then drop us an email and we would be happy to help!

Why is there someone saying 'Royalty Free Horror Music.com' over the top of every track?

This is our watermark. We place this over the preview files just to protect them online. They can still be downloaded, but the file is useless with this watermark over it. Once you have purchased your file, the high quality WAV file does not contain this watermark.

Is there anything I can't use the music for?

  • You cannot resell this music

  • You cannot sub-license this music

  • You cannot post the music on your website as a download

  • You cannot distribute the music as a separate collection

How can I credit you on a project?

If you would like to credit the use of the music in your project, then please use the following -

Music composed by Bobby Cole

How can I edit the file, or create a fade out?

If you need to perform some basic editing tasks on the track to make it fit your production, then the best software we have used is called Audacity. It's completely free, and does everything that you need it to! Audactiry can be found by going to http://audacity.sourceforge.net.

I am a music composer, how can I sell my scary tracks on Royalty Free Horror Music.com?

Unfortunately we are not accepting submissions at this time. This may change in the future, but as it stands we ask you not to send us demos or submission requests. The music for Royalty Free Horror Music comes from the library of Bobby Cole (www.bobbycole.co.uk). Additional music in the future is going to be hand chosen from composers that we know, and have already built up a strong working relationship with.

What is a cue sheet and why do I need to fill it out? I thought everything was Royalty Free?

There has certainly been some confusion over this in the music industry over the last few years. When you make a purchase on www.royaltyfreehorrormusic.com the music you buy is Royalty Free, meaning YOU do not have to pay anything else ever again to use the music. If you are creating music for broadcast that is going to be aired on TV (Cable, local or national), then a cue sheet needs to be filled with PRS in the UK or BMI in the states. Again, let me stress that this is completely free and you do not have to pay anything. The broadcaster of the program that you create then directly pays a fee to PRS or BMI, and a portion of which goes back to the composer as a performance royalty. You will not be charged for this, and don't have to pay anything, as the broadcaster pays the fee. Confusing isn't it? If you have any questions then drop me an email on info@royaltyfreehorrormusic.com.
